What We’re Doing to Improve Air Quality

Oxford Friends of the Earth is a thriving and effective local group that has been active for over 40 years. Our purpose is to work together to promote a healthy and sustainable environment

We have distributed PurpleAir particulate monitors across the city and are using them to identify particular hot spots. Realtime data is displayed on the PurpleAir online map. There’s more information on our Particulates Monitoring Project here.

We’re collaborating with the Oxford City Council and the Canal and River Trust to raise awareness of the risks of burning wood and coal, and to avoid this becoming a socially divisive issue.

We support the planned Zero Emission Zone in central Oxford.

We’re working with Cool World Consulting on their CleanerAirSooner campaign to improve air quality in schools.
