Learning from Lockdown – how can we build a better future?
Oxford Friends of the Earth is a thriving and effective local group that has been active for over 40 years. Our purpose is to work together to promote a healthy and sustainable environment
Tell us about the changes that you have made – and want to stick with!
The last few weeks have seen massive changes in how we live and work. Alongside the problems and the suffering there have – for some of us – been some positives.
Are there changes that you are going through that will stay with you? Are there differences in your lifestyle that you would like to see last beyond the ‘lockdown’ and become a permanent part of your life? It may be about what you do in your home or about your surroundings, or maybe it’s something that a friend or neighbour is doing that inspires you.
We want to ‘build a better future’. We need a recovery from this crisis that doesn’t just see us ‘get back to normal’ but gives us a chance to create a healthier and greener society. We’d like to know what you have ‘learnt from lockdown’ about how we can all do things better.
We’d like to hear your stories and ideas! What have you learned, done or valued during this time? What’s been good for you, for your community – and for our environment?
Oxford Friends of the Earth will be writing to all our councillors and MPs, urging them to ensure that national and local recovery plans have positive impacts on tackling the climate crisis. We will use your good ideas and stories as part of that report. We will show how people across the county are making changes and really do want us to ‘build back better’.
So please give us your stories – all encouraging ideas welcome!
