Cycling in the Oxfordshire countryside.

Since lockdown i have been getting out on my bike at least twice a week for a 17 mile circular ride around the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. It has been wonderful cycling around almost traffic free lanes with bird song so much clearer and audible and the friendly waves of all the other cyclists and runners. I have passed small deer by the side of the road, watched hawks hovering above and heard many Kites calling. It is my intention to ride over 1000 miles before the end of the year and I am almost halfway there but I am not looking forward to seeing all the usual traffic back on the roads. Cars drive too close, the edges of many roads are full of potholes and some roads are just too dangerous to ride on. lets hope the council help us all out by really paying attention to our calls for safer roads and dedicated cycle lanes – but make sure they are not potholed and a hazard to ride along, as some are now.
